Edwin purchased land in Fluvanna Co. Va. on August 7, 1777. He bought 200 acres on Bird Creek.
In 1792 he purchased 524 acres in Greenville Co., SC, and 1797 acquired 70 more acres.
He listed his occupation as a farmer.

This indenture made this 7th day August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and
seventy seven, between George Thompson of the County and parish of Fluvanna of the one part; and
Edwin Baine of the same County and Parish of the other part. Witnesseth that the Sd George
Thompson for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds cash in hand paid by the said Edwin
Baine, hath this day bargained sold and delivered unto the said Edwin Baine one certain tract or
parcel of land lying and being in the aforesaid County, on the waters of the Byrd Creek, and bounded
as followeth, to wit, Beginning at Pointers near Biber's Road running hence W. 37. D.E. 158 poles to
pointers So. 53 E. 205 poles to pointers So 37 degrees West 158 poles to a Black Oak W. 53 degrees
West 204 poles to the first Station? containing two hundred acres , be the same more or less, its the
place whereon Edwin now lives which the said land the said George Thompson warrants a good and
lawful right and title to him the said Edwin Baine, his heirs and assigns for ever or any person or
persons whatsoever, as witness whereof the said George Thompson have hereunto put his hand and
seal the day and year afore written.

At a court helt for Fluvanna County the Seventh day of August 1777. This deed was this day in open
court acknowledged by George Thompson to be his act and deed and by the court ordered to be
recorde

Edwin Bain participated in the Rev. War, through patriotic sevice performance by contributing a gun in
May, 1781.
"Edwin Baine allowed payment for a gun taken for the use of Fluvanna militia the 10th May last, by
receipt under Hand, Anthony Haden, Capt. At a court continued and held for Fluvanna County on
Monday the 8th of April 1782.

Deed 2
Dec. 31, 1791 Edwin and Sarah Bain sold their home and two hundred acres of land in Fluvanna Co.,
Va. to Philip Jacob Brown. Deed approved and recorded April 5, 1792.
This indenture made this Thirty first day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and ninety one between Edwin Bain and Sarah Bain his wife of Fluvanna County of the one
part and Phillip Jacob Brown of the County of Lowden of the other part Witnesseth that the said Edwin
and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of sixty five pounds cash in hand paid, the
receipt is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold unto the sd Philip Jacob Brown a certain
tract, parcel of land lying and being in the county of Fluavanna Co. on the waters of the Byrd Creek
containing two hundred acres, be the same, more or less bounded by the lands of George Thompson,
Hezekiah Holland, Thomas Ailes?, William Pace and William Loving being the home where the said
Edwin Edwin and Sarah now lives: The said two hundred acres of land and all the appurtenances
here unto belonging the sd Edwin Bain and Sarah his wife binds themselves their heirs Exors &
Adms. to warrant & forever do find a good and lawful rights and title in for same ___ unto the said
Phillip Jacob Brown his heirs Exors Adminrs or assigns forever. As witness the sd Edwin & Sarah his

Oct. 14, 1812, Edwin sells to David Bain, the 260 acres of land that he bought from Elijah Mayfield in
Nov. 1801.
Rachel Sarah Flaker was born in 1756 in VA. She died after 1810 in Dekalb Co., TN.
Robert Edwin Bain and Rachel Sarah Flaker were married in 1775 in Fluvanna Co., VA. They had the
following children:
4. i. Archibald Bain was born in 1776 in Albemarle Co. VA. He married Sarah Spencer in 1802
in NC. He died on 30 Sep 1863 in Dekalb Co., TN.
5. ii. Johnson D. Bain was born in 1780 in Fluvanna Co., VA. He married Nancy Worley before
1804 in Greenville County, SC. He died in Feb 1862 in Henderson Co., NC.
6. iii. Peter Bain was born in 1783 in Fluvanna Co., VA. He married Sinah Benton in 1814 in
Warren Co., TN. He died in Feb 1851 in Dekalb Co., TN (Belk Community).
7. iv. David Bain was born in 1787 in Fluvanna Co., VA. He died on 08 Oct 1863 in Morgan Co.,
AL.
v. Richard Bain was born on 13 Sep 1789.
vi. John K. Bain was born in 1791 in Fluvanna Co., VA. He died in AL.
vii. Andrew Bain was born between 1792-1800 in Greenville Co., SC. He married
Temperance Phillips on 16 Jan 1823 in Morgan Co., AL. He died about 1845 in Blount Co.,
AL.
