When I was 17 my great aunt gave me 10 family letters written to my gg grandfather during the Civil War. That is how I got fascinated with family history and have been investigating my family ever since.

As a single parent I always told stories of my family to my son while he was held captive in the truck. I tried to tell my son all the stories of his ancestors that were in the Texas Revolution, Mexican War, Civil War and WWI & WWII. My son never knew that you weren't supposed to spend your school spring breaks tromping through cemeteries in Fayette County, Texas. I became a Dallas Police Officer in 1974 and retired as a Detective in 2007. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything in the world. Now that I have retired I have been trying to find my great grandparents on my dad's dad side of my family and after 40 years of searching I don't think I had any! Thanks to all the Criswell researchers I have collected a lot of ancestors on my mother's side of the family.

I have loved genealogy since I was 17 and will continue to search for all those missing family members.
